Shopify accessibility
Aloud is a Shopify accessibility service. We fix screen-reader, keyboard, contrast and ADA/WCAG problems in your theme code, not with an overlay widget. Blind shoppers use screen readers that read your store aloud. On many stores we scan, cart, search and add to cart come out as just "link" or "button".

Why now
US ADA demand letters and the EU European Accessibility Act (since June 2025) both get pointed at WCAG 2.2 AA. Shopify's checkout is theirs. Your theme, colours, product photos and apps are yours.
US website accessibility lawsuits projected for 2026, a record high.
of them in the first half of 2026 were against online stores.

Questions
We're not lawyers. US stores often get ADA demand letters that point at WCAG. The EU's European Accessibility Act has applied since June 2025 to stores selling to EU customers. The technical bar people use for both is WCAG 2.2 AA, which is what we work to in your theme. A widget does not do that job.
An overlay is a script that sits on top of your store. The theme code stays broken. In 2025 the FTC fined accessiBe $1M for claiming its widget made sites WCAG-compliant. We change the Liquid, labels, contrast and keyboard access in your theme. That is still not a legal guarantee.
No one can honestly guarantee that, and anyone who promises it is overselling. Fixing these issues removes the specific barriers these claims point to, and gives you a dated record of the work.
Never. You share your 4-digit collaborator code, we send a request from our Shopify Partner account, and you approve theme access only. You can remove us any time.
We work on a duplicate of your theme. Nothing goes live until you've previewed it and pressed publish yourself.
Automated tests catch part of the problem. Paid plans include manual keyboard and screen-reader testing for what software can't see.
Theme updates and new apps can undo fixes or add new issues. Our work covers your theme as it was on the date of the re-test report. That's exactly what Monitoring is for: we re-scan after changes and fix what's new.
No. Aloud is a technical accessibility service, not a law firm. We improve your store against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard and document the work. If you've received a demand letter or lawsuit, talk to a lawyer first.
Almost never. Most fixes are invisible labels and code structure. Where a colour fails contrast, we suggest the closest shade that passes, and you approve it.
